Getting Ready to Go to the Thai Adventure

This whole trip started out early one morning when Zosia was reading her email. Neither of us had our full whits about us yet, but she came across a Groupon message advertising a fantastic 10-day trip to Thailand, a place we have always wanted to go, for $1150 with hotel, air and transfers. I have always been a bit skeptical about Groupon because I often let them expire or the company had gone out of business when I wanted to use them. But this sounded really good and din't require much thought. We were wondering where our first trip would be after Zosia's knee replacement was healed. This just seemed right. So we signed up for it, playing a little extra to fly out of Houston on the dates we wanted. It will be our annual anniversary trip.

Ah, but true to nature, we didn't read the fine print that said we had to book the flights in the next five days. Well so 10 days later we decided to book the flights. Too late we we're told, the offer had expired, but for a mere $150 more we can still take advantage of it. Outraged by my inattentiveness again, I was willing to not go, but they were not willing to reimburse me either. So licking my hurt feelings, we settled up and are now ready to go and are happy about it. Life is so easy when you are willing to compromise.

And now being excited about going - what will we do when we get there. Ah, yes the optional tours. They all look great and we decide on six tours. But best of all, for days we had tried to find a birding guide and there were few on the internet. By checking out facebook we came across one with great reviews and was reasonably priced out of Phuket. We booked two days off the island with her - it should be fun.

So we are driving to Houston and taking off from there. And since we are going to be in Houston anyway, we're going to High Island for a day to go birding like we do every spring migration. This is looking better all the time.
